How to choose carbide tools and HSS tools?

HSS TOOLS

• Processing material: carbon steel (HB225), alloy steel (HB225-325), pre-hardened steel (HRC30-38), aluminum and soft metal with hardness < HRC38, the range of machinable materials is relatively limited.
• Processing conditions: can not high speed cutting, coolant must be used during processing
• Processing performance: good surface finish for soft material
• Features: the tools are sharp and price is cheap

Advice: If you would like to purchase HSS milling cutters, you are advice to buy HSS M42 end mills. Because M42 is a molybdenum-series high-speed steel alloy with an additional 8% cobalt, that is with superior red-hardness as compared to more conventional high-speed steels, allow for shorter cycle times in production environments due to higher cutting speeds or from the increase in time between tool changes. M42 is also less prone to chipping when used for interrupted cuts and costs less when compared to the same tool made of carbide. If you request more wear-resistant and better roughness end mill, HSS PM end mills is recommendable.

Tungsten Carbide Tools

• Processing material: aluminum, carbon,tool steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, die steel, high hardness steel etc., can work for wide range of workpiece material
• Processing conditions: high speed cutting; can work in wet and dry condition; request the machines with high precision and small vibration amplitude, and the machined parts should be smooth surface and uniform texture, or the tool is easy to broke
• Processing performance: high-quantity and high-precision production
• Features: excellent wear-resistance, temperature resistance allows faster machining.
